Some of the best driven
game shooting and deer
stalking in Scotland takes
place in the countryside around the Black Bull. We can
arrange driven pheasant shooting, deer hunting and shooting
driven partridge at your request
Fishing
Keen anglers need look no further than the nearby River
Tweed with its internationally renowned salmon
fishing and sea trout fishing
on its tributaries. Plus there’s rainbow
trout in the local lochs and sea
fishing off the Berwickshire coast.
We’re happy to make arrangements for

catch of the day when you get back to the hotel!
Clay pigeon shooting
Clay pigeon shooting can be arranged at Braidwood
Sporting Clays, one of the best layouts in the country
and only a short drive away.
Equestrian Events
Unmissable equestrian events through the spring and
summer include the Floors Castle International
Horse Trials in May, the Common
Ridings - magnificent rideouts involving hundreds
of horses - throughout June and July, and the Thirlestane
Castle Scottish Championship Horse Trials in
August – literally a stone’s throw from
the Black Bull.
Country Sport & Leisure
The surrounding countryside also provides fantastic
forest, coastal and hill walking,
golf and cycling,
including extreme biking at
the Red Bull Downhill Course in Innerleithen and the
mountain bike tracks in Glentress Forest.
Nearby Towns & Cities
If all that outdoor activity leaves you breathless,
Scotland’s two largest cities are just an hour
or so away.
Edinburgh and Glasgow offer excellent shopping
and culture with scores of theatres,
cinemas, museums,
galleries and restaurants.
While the Borders towns are a great place to while away
a day buying local cashmere and luxury textiles, sampling
locally produced food goodies or visiting ancient and
historic sites.
