Driven Game Shooting

Some of the best driven game shooting and deer stalking in Scotland takes place in the countryside around the Black Bull. We can arrange driven pheasant shooting, deer hunting and shooting driven partridge at your request

Fishing
Keen anglers need look no further than the nearby River Tweed with its internationally renowned salmon fishing and sea trout fishing on its tributaries. Plus there’s rainbow trout in the local lochs and sea fishing off the Berwickshire coast.

We’re happy to make arrangements for you and we’ll even cook up your catch of the day when you get back to the hotel!

Clay pigeon shooting
Clay pigeon shooting can be arranged at Braidwood Sporting Clays, one of the best layouts in the country and only a short drive away.

Equestrian Events
Unmissable equestrian events through the spring and summer include the Floors Castle International Horse Trials in May, the Common Ridings - magnificent rideouts involving hundreds of horses - throughout June and July, and the Thirlestane Castle Scottish Championship Horse Trials in August – literally a stone’s throw from the Black Bull.

Country Sport & Leisure
The surrounding countryside also provides fantastic forest, coastal and hill walking, golf and cycling, including extreme biking at the Red Bull Downhill Course in Innerleithen and the mountain bike tracks in Glentress Forest.

Nearby Towns & Cities

If all that outdoor activity leaves you breathless, Scotland’s two largest cities are just an hour or so away.

Edinburgh and Glasgow offer excellent shopping and culture with scores of theatres, cinemas, museums, galleries and restaurants. While the Borders towns are a great place to while away a day buying local cashmere and luxury textiles, sampling locally produced food goodies or visiting ancient and historic sites.

We can help arrange or recommend activities during your stay. Please just ask.

Find out more about the surrounding area and take a look at just some of the local events taking place within easy reach of the Black Bull, or why not try the Borders Events website for actvities elsewhere in the Borders.
